Seventeen-year-old Greg Gaines (Thomas Mann), an awkward Pittsburgh high school student, manages to become part of every social group without having any friends, spends most of his time making low-budget parodies of classic movies with his co-worker and best friend, Earl (RJ Cyler).Greg finds his outlook forever altered after his mother forces him to befriend Rachel (Olivia Cooke), a girl he once knew in Hebrew school, who has just been diagnosed with leukemia, and together with Earl, decide to make a film for her.Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Jesse Andrews, based on Andrews' novel of the same name, the film stars Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, Ronald Cyler II, Jon Bernthal, and Nick Offerman.The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival to a standing ovation.
